News: UDIs receives technical guidance from EC
The Europian Commission (EC) released eight documents on technical specifications for Unique Device Identifiers (UDIs). Amongst these, four of the documents are related to Basic UDI-DI for manufacturers to use and connect devices having the same risk class, identity, and design characteristics. These characteristics are also the required elements, known as Eudamed, for the incoming device database.
The other four documents deal with UDI Human Readable Interpretation (HRI) formats, which are from the same four organizations. Three different UDI labels have been offered by the HIBCC, which includes DataMatrix, linear not concatenated and linear concatenated. HRI qualifiers for UDI-DI, lot number, expiration date, etc., are other such information that is also included.
