News: FDA warns of potential drug interaction with remdisivir
The U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued warning against hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine clarifying its interaction with the drug remdisivir, reducing the antiviral activity of the Coronavirus. This comes hours after the FDA revokes an emergency. Remdisivir is the only registered drug under the EUA to treat COVID-19 in the U.S.
The acting director of FDA's CDER, Patrizia Cavazzoni said, "As we learn more about these products, changes may be necessary based on new data – such as today’s updates for health care providers about a potential drug interaction and other important information about using remdesivir to treat COVID-19 patients.”
