News: Cyber risk strikes the Medtronic Insulin Pumps, FDA issues warning
The Medtronic receives warning from the FDA to bring modification in the Insulin Pumps. Their Insulin Pumps seemed to have been a source of the potential risk of cyber security. The health care providers have been asked to switch their Medtronic MiniMed™ Insulin Pumps to better-equipped models that have lower risks of cyber breaches.
The FDA has found out that the potential cyber vulnerabilities can raise the patient's blood sugar level and diabetes levels when used by a third person except for the patient, like a caregiver or a health care provider. Being unaware of the patient's glucose or blood sugar level, they can connect to the nearest Insulin Pumps, thus initiating vulnerabilities concerning cyber risks.
