Changes in the New York State paid family leave

New York became the first state to introduce and legalize the paid family leave for the employees in New York. According to the new changes in the NYS paid leaves, eligible employees will get up to 10 weeks of Paid Family Leave in 2020. 

One of the important agendas that the NYS paid family leaves will impart a total of about 60 percent of the average weekly wages, which goes up to a cap of around 60% of the current Statewide Average Weekly Wage of $1,401.70. 

New strategies in the employment onboarding plans

Employee onboarding works well for the organization that has proper management strategies for the employees as soon as they get employed in an organization. A distinct program on employee onboarding is effective when the management works well for newly onboarded employees. 

In the year 2020, most of Human Resources is inclined to the thought that onboarding planning is not required to make the employees punctual in the organization. However, the entire onboarding process can prove to be conducive when carried with regular implementation.

New guidelines for employee exemption plan in FLSA

The Fair Labor Standard Act defines new terms on the exempt employees which embody the eligibility criteria to claim overtime salary rules. The new law also encompasses the regular wage hourly workers to get access to the overtime salary rules. 

For major changes to be happening in the year 2020, the salary threshold will be raised to a certain threshold to accommodate executive, administrative, and professional exemption from $455 per week ($23,660 annually) to $913 per week ($47,476 annually). Additionally, highly compensated employees will see the threshold rise from "Highly Compensated Employee" exemption from $100,000 to $134,004.
